Broadcom Corp. has announced the release of its BVM5812 Cryptonext IPsec processor, which is capable of security processing at speeds of up to 80Mbps as well as reduce VPN bottlenecks and degradation across the entire network infrastructure.

Manufactured using a 0.18?m CMOS process, the IC dissipates <0.5W, while extending support for 256-bit key AES at speeds of up to 80Mbps. It also features a PCI 2.2 interface, which enables the device to interface directly to the PCI bus without additional interface logic, external components, or external memory.

Other features include support for SSL and TLS protocols, a built-in true random number generator to generate on-chip random values for Diffie-Hellman key generation and DSA signatures. The 15-by-15mm FBGA device also supports IPsec bulk payload processing for all AES modes and provides public key acceleration as well as basic Modular Math functions.
