SEI optical fiber has small minimum-bending radius

The PureAccess-Ultra single-mode optical fiber from Sumitomo Electric Ind. (SEI) Ltd features a minimum-bending radius of 7.5mm - almost three times lower than the minimum-bending value offered by similar products.

This allows the fiber to be used in cables for FTTH services, where the fiber-optic cables are installed closely along the wall for flexibility. The smaller minimum-bending radius also allows excess cables to be bundled more compactly - similar to power cables - and reduce the size of FTH equipment and joint boxes.

Previously, the company released the PureAccess optical fiber that offers a minimum-bending radius of 15mm.
