FDK ferrite material boasts high saturation flux density

FDK Corp. has announced the development of a MnZn ferrite material that offers what the company claims to be the world's highest saturation magnetic flux density at high temperatures.

This property allows the 4H series ferrite material to be used as core material for coil products used in transformers for automobiles, as well as inverter transformers for LCDs. It can also reduce the volume of coil products by up to 20 percent compared to conventional ferrite materials.

The high saturation magnetic flux density is achieved through the use of a new sintering method and by changing the composition of ferrite to shift the Curie temperature to a higher temperature.

The 4H45 material exhibits a saturation magnetic flux density of 450mT, while the 4H47 material offers 470mT, both at 100C. Core loss is measured to be at 450kW/m? and 650kW/m?, respectively.
