Toshiba Corp. has launched a series of 2.5Gbps SFP optical transceivers that are intended for use in short-, intermediate-, and long range optical networks including MAN and LAN, SONET/SDH, SAN, GbE, and Fibre Channel applications.

The hot-pluggable SFP transceivers include digital diagnostic capabilities to minimize downtime and enable systems to be maintained and upgraded without interfering with network operation. They provide OC-3 to OC-48 data rates while working from a single 3.3V power supply.

The TOTR310P-D and TOTR360P-D are CWDM modules that enable multiple channels to be aggregated onto one fiber. The TOTR310P-D provides four wavelengths and operates in the 1,300nm using a DFB laser diode. The TOTR360P-D provides eight wavelengths and operates in the 1,500nm range. These devices are available in the standard "D" configuration with PIN photodiodes or in a "DA" configuration with avalanche photo diode.

The TOTR310P-F is a single-channel 2.5Gbps device with an integrated 1,300nm FP laser diode and is suitable for use in short and intermediate applications. The TOTR210P SFP transceiver utilizes an 850nm VCSEL and is targeted at short-haul applications, up to 500m.
