China-based mobile phone manufacturer Amoisonic Electronics Co. Ltd has chosen Agere Systems Inc.'s wireless platform reference design in the development of its advanced data and multimedia GPRS mobile phones. Agere's platform is a complete hardware and software solution that is expected to offer reduced size, cost, and power consumption, providing flexibility in phone design and faster time-to-market.

Amoisonic has selected this platform as the foundation for a new generation of data-enhanced GPRS phones targeting the China market. Amoisonic is expected to launch mobile phones that use Agere's GPRS solutions this month in China.
