A broadband quadrature demodulator IC from Analog Devices Inc. enables intermediate-frequency (IF)-to-baseband conversion from 50MHz to 1GHz. The AD8348 consists of a demodulator with a dual mixer core and a local-oscillator phase splitter, plus a 45dB linear-in-dB variable-gain amplifier and single-ended-to-differential amplifiers.

Featuring high linearity, better-than-average amplitude/phase balance, and a 60MHz demodulation bandwidth, the AD8348 is said to enable most high-order modulation formats, including QAM, QPSK, and 8-PSK.

Available in a 28-lead TSSOP, it is specified for use over the -40C to 85C temperature range. Samples and preproduction quantities are available for immediate shipment. The demodulator IC is priced at $4.95 per unit in 10,000-piece quantities.
