Hamamatsu photodiode has low PDL

Hamamatsu Corp.'s G8370-10 InGaAn PIN photodiode combines high sensitivity, low dark current, and low polarized dependent loss (PDL) for laser diode applications.

The unit covers the 0.9-by-1.7mm spectral response range and achieves typical peak sensitivity of 0.95A/W at 1.55mm. Dark current is typically 0.2mA with a typical PDL of 5dBm (maximum 10dBm).

The G8370-10 has a 10mm(?) active area and a typical photo response non-uniformity of 2 percent. It is housed in a ceramic package that can operate over a temperature range of -15C to 70C.

Despite its large active area, it maintains a compact size, measuring 16.5-by-15 mm. It is 12.7mm high, including pins. The price is $3,400 in sample quantities. Delivery is six to eight weeks ARO for sample quantities.
