Advantest Corp. has announced the release of its R3861 signal analyzer for communications technology research that uses multiple, narrowly-spaced frequencies, and require accurate power management such as mobile communications, satellite communications, and microwave repeaters.

In addition, the company has also released a software option for the signal analyzer that will allow users to perform OFDM modulation analysis according to the various emerging standards for next-generation WLANs such as IEEE 802.11a and HiperLAN2.

The device exhibits an average noise level of -56dBm and 26dBm third-order intermodulation distortion. It employs proprietary Wizard of Module Test architecture to allow users to quickly reconfigure their test instruments to suit their needs.

The signal analyzer also comes equipped with an analysis bandwidth >140MHz to allow users to upgrade the R3681 to perform research on the next-generation of broadband wireless technologies by simply adding future options.

The R3681 features a 12-inch, touchscreen display that can be split into four separate windows, each window being the same size as the displays used in present-day spectrum analyzers. This enables the user to observe a signal from four different aspects without having to constantly switch back and forth between different screens.
