Xilinx Inc. has announced that Nauticus Networks has chosen the Xilinx Virtex- II Platform FPGA family for its recently launched N2000 Series of Intelligent Data Center Switches. Nauticus Networks uses multiple XC2V6000 Virtex-II FPGAs to implement a processing engine for delivering network and security application services to the data center.
"In a standard Gate Array or Standard Cell device, you must simulate to completion before fabricating the device, and many times you can't tell when the design is solid enough to go to fab, while the Xilinx FPGAs can be changed anytime throughout the development cycle," said Stephen Metzger, director of Hardware Engineering at Nauticus Networks. "We selected Xilinx over competing solutions based on the overall cost advantages over a traditional ASIC, ultimate design flexibility, and the very impressive logic and block RAM resources provided by the Virtex-II Platform FPGAs." |
