Inphi amps consume up to 100mW

Integrated transimpedance/limiting amplifiers (TIA/LIAs) from Inphi Corp., the 1342TL and 1343TL, target 10GbE, SONET/SDH optical-receiver modules, and broadband instrumentation. Supporting data rates up to 10.7Gbps, they consume 140mW and 100mW, respectively.

"Receiver module makers that previously used a separate LIA to amplify signals from a TIA can now use integrated TIA/LIAs with more than 23dB of dynamic range and power dissipation as low as 100mW," said Inphi president and CEO Ashok Dhawan. Using a separate LIA can entail a power draw of up to 490mW, he said. Low power dissipation is vital to manufacturers that hope to meet the power requirements for small pluggable transceivers.

To simplify fiber alignment during package assembly, the 1342TL includes dc slice-level adjust and a receive-signal strength indicator.

The 1342TL and 1343TL are available for sampling in die form, with volume production planned for Q2. The 1342TL is priced at $33 in 10,000-unit quantities.
