Li-ion battery material plant breaks ground in Shenzhen

Shenzhen University has entered into an agreement with Shenzhen Huade Chuangjian Science & Technology Co. Ltd to jointly set up a Li-ion battery membrane production base in Shenzhen, Guangdong. Previously, membrane materials used in local made Li-ion batteries are purchased abroad, which cost about $75 million for local makers each year. The university plans to pay over Rmb240 million ($28.9 million) for this material every year.

With this agreement, both parties will carry out pilot production to further improve production technique and equipment. They expect the first phase of the project to absorb Rmb20 million ($2.41 million) with an annual production capacity of 10 million to 15 million square-meters.
