Au Optronics (AUO) Corp., together with Universal Display Corp., announced the development of what it claims to be world's first low-power consumption, full-color active matrix OLED display.
The four-inch display uses AUO's proprietary amorphous silicon (a-Si) TFT backplane technology and Universal Display's Phosphorescent OLED technology. Together, they are claimed to improve power efficiency by more than 40 percent compared to conventional models, as well as provide better color purity.
The lower power consumption also helps lengthen the battery time of handheld electronic devices such as mobile phones and PDAs, as well as extend the lifespan of the a-Si backplane. |
