Cypress Semiconductor Corp. has decided to use the Intel Control Plane Platform Development Kit (CP-PDK) to develop a range of applications for network search engines (NSEs) and co-processors. In utilizing the CP-PDK software, a toolkit based on standards developed by the Network Processor Forum (NPF), Cypress is expected to be able to ensure interoperability not only with Intel network processors but also with the standards from the NPF.

The CP-PDK software toolkit supports separation of the control-and data-plane functions, allowing parallel development for quicker time-to-market. Cypress plans to deliver complete solutions based on standards developed by the NPF to its NSE customers through using the CP-PDK.

"We have been working closely with Intel to leverage the capabilities of their CP-PDK in developing our network search solutions," said Geoff Charubin, director of marketing at Cypress's Data Communications Division. "This will provide our mutual customers with a completely optimized solution, while delivering cost savings and time-to-market advantages for their packet-processing systems."
