Fairchild Semiconductor Int. and Micralyne Inc. have recently joined the roster of 40 member companies in the MEMS Industry Group (MIG) - a trade association representing the MEMS and microstructures industries.

Micralyne is an OEM manufacturer of micro-fabricated and MEMS-based components. Its MEMS solutions include lab-on-a-chip devices, sensors, and optical switch systems. Meanwhile, Fairchild's semiconductor products are supplied to multiple end markets which are used in virtually all electronic devices for computing, communications, consumer, industrial, and automotive applications.

According to the MIG, membership has doubled since July of 2002, showing the need in the MEMS Industry for real-time, results-driven programs addressing commercialization and other industry concerns. The association enables the exchange of non-propriety information among members, provides industry data that furthers the development of technology, and works with legislators, policy makers and others toward the greater commercial development and use of MEMS and MEMS-enabled devices.
