Wafer foundry Tower Semiconductor Ltd has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Tower Semiconductor U.S.A., plans to extend its U.S. sales and customer support network to the East Coast by establishing a new office near Boston, Massachusetts. The office is slated to open this month.

The new office will function as Tower's eastern U.S. center for sales, design support, and technical services. Field technicians and account representatives will be based in the newly opened office in order to serve customers in the region.

"Boosting our share of the U.S. market for foundry services is key to our global growth strategy," said Harold Blomquist, SVP of Tower Semiconductor. "Therefore, it is essential that we expand our U.S. customer base and maintain strong relationships with existing customers in the U.S. Our new office will allow us to increase Tower U.S.A.'s presence on the East Coast, where the IC engineering and design community is very active. We will be able to more rapidly pursue business opportunities for our new Fab 2 facility and provide more localized service to customers in the region."
