Promate Electronic Co. Ltd has announced that they will begin mass production of the company's latest 15-, 17-, 20-, 26-, 27-, and 30-inch LCD modules in Q4 of 2003. These modules, which are designed for use in TFT-LCD TV receivers, have a proposed monthly capacity of 5,000.

Tim Ko, VP for Promate Electronic said, "Our new modules are high-end ones with close-caption or V chip function for the U.S. market, as well as for tele-test function for the European market."

Ko added that the production of another new set of displays - 6.8- or 7-inch TFT-LCD modules designed for use in GPS platform, are also underway. A low-cost Linux platform and RISC CPU are reportedly going to be used to make the module, which is expected to reduce production costs to about only one of third of those for a Window-based CISO CPU model, and 50 percent lower than those for end-users.

Promate Electronic currently offers 2.5- to 20.1-inch TFT-LCD modules used in industry applications, medical equipment, security monitors, broadcasting displays, and kiosks. The monthly capacity for these models is 10,000 units.
