Multilink Technology Corp. has expanded their PHYreSTORM family of datacom serdes devices with the introduction of the MTC1138 10Gbps transceiver that connects FC protocol ICs or switch fabrics to serial XFP optical modules through an XGMII interface.

The single-chip transceiver reduces the overall system power and size, and improves system performance by eliminating the need for additional XGMII to XAUI serdes device currently needed in XAUI-based 10Gbps transceivers.

It incorporates the company's PHYreSTORM serdes technology which provides jitter performance that exceeds the IEEE 802.3ae and GR-253 specifications and allows it to continuously operate from 9.9Gbps to 12.5Gbps.

The device will come in a 17-by-17mm BGA, utilizing TSMC's 0.13?m CMOS process, and will be globally available in Q3 of this year.
