NEC to provide broadband access service to SingTel

NEC Australia, a company of NEC Corp., has been tapped to supply an xDSL system for broadband access to Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) through Itochu Singapore Pte Ltd. NEC expects the total order value to amount to $10 million.

AM31 Multi-Service Access platform, which is supplied under this contract, is developed by NEC Australia and has been recently supplied to the other Asian countries such as Hong Kong and Malaysia. With the introduction of this xDSL system, SingTel aims to be able to meet the demand of high-speed Internet in the market and also be able to expand the existing services to various kinds of multimedia services.
