The Aspocomp Group has completed internal negotiations regarding the possible closure of its Aspocomp Oy Padasjoki printed wiring board (PWB) factory.

According to the company, instead of the total shut down of the plant, the factory will be downsized wherein a part of their employees will be relocated to other group factories. About 30 workers will continue to run the Padasjoki plant, while about 40 staff members will be made redundant.

Among the reasons for the possible closing of the Padasjoki factory are overcapacity in the PWB industry and the unprofitability of the factory, Aspocomp explained.
