The LTC3734 and LTC3735 dc/dc converters from Linear Technology Corp. power Intel's Centrino mobile technology for thin and light notebook PCs. The step-down dc/dc controllers integrate MOSFET drivers and Intel Pentium M-compatible power saving mode.

The devices' input operating voltage range from 4V to 30V, with a 1 percent reference voltage accuracy. Adjustable operating frequency for wireless applications is from 210kHz to 550kHz.

Further, both ICs feature overvoltage protection and short circuit shutdown. The LTC3734 is housed in a 5-by-5mm QFN package, and is priced at $3.05, while the 2-phase LTC3735 is offered in a 36-lead SSOP and is priced at $4.45 (1,000-pieces).
