Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has developed eight high performance Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC) chipset solution models by electronic beam scanning for 76GHz-band millimeter-wave (mm-wave) radars that can help achieve safe road driving.

The mm-wave radars perform functions such as cruise control by detecting distances and relative speeds of cars running ahead of drivers, and take appropriate measures to help reduce damage to the driver when a crash becomes unavoidable.

The chipset solution has been realized based upon the GaAs-pHEMT (Pseudo-morphic High Electron Mobility Transistor) MMIC technology, which has been developed for satellite, defense, and commercial uses.

The solution consists of 8 MMIC models and a 30mW output power at 76GHz with <3.5dB noise figure.
