Hynix adopts ARM core for smart card advancement

ARM Ltd has licensed its SecurCore SC100 microprocessor core to South Korea-based Hynix Semiconductor Inc. Hynix, a manufacturer of semiconductors including DRAM, SRAM, Flash memory, and System IC products, will utilize the ARM technology for the further development and advancement of its smart card and security solutions.

"As the need for secure applications in the Asia Pacific region expands, we see a growing need for smart card chips in applications such as mobile communication, banking, transportation and government ID. This market will devour increasing numbers of ICs," said Jay Chae, VP of MCU business, Hynix.
