Yageo delays production in Suzhou plant

Passive component maker Yageo Corp. has postponed its production operations in Suzhou, mainland China to Q4 this year instead of last month. The postponement is due to the SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) outbreak in the mainland, as well as the customers request to separate their manufacturing sites to avoid danger from getting the virus from the area.

The company has 12 manufacturing sites and 22 sales representatives worldwide, and claims that it can provide 24-hour shipments. Yageo expects sales in Q2 of 2003 to grow by 5 to 10 percent from the previous quarter.
