Catcher Technology Co. Ltd has announced that its second offshore plant in Suzhou, mainland China is scheduled to ship magnesium-alloy cases for use in mobile phones beginning August this year. Monthly output for this plant is between 700,000 to 800,000 cases.

Allen S. S. Hung, president and CEO, said, "We have sent more than 70 engineers, technicians, and management staff members to this factory to handle the operations there."

According to Hung, demand for magnesium-alloy-cases at the new offshore factory is expected to take more than 50 percent of the total turnover at the company's mainland China operations including cases for notebook computers, mainframes, and other aluminum- and zinc-alloy die-casting cases and cabinets.

The company currently has 17 units of 120- to 130-ton die-casting machines used in making magnesium-alloy cases for mobile phones. Hung added, "We plan to add three more machines at our plant in Taiwan and new offshore factory in Suzhou at the end of this year."
