Intel Corp. introduced new mobile processors and chipsets for transportable notebook PCs that offer near-desktop features, including high performance, larger screens, full size keyboards and multiple drives.

The new products integrate the company's Mobile Pentium 4 processor, Celeron processor, and 852PM and GME chipsets. The Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor offers frequencies up to 3.06GHz, and power management features. Notebooks based on the Pentium 4 processor allow users to take advantage of processor-intensive multimedia applications such as video encoding, digital media, and gaming.

The 855 chipset family is part of the Centrino Mobile Technology line and is designed to deliver breakthrough performance at lower power. The 855PM chipset is a discrete memory controller hub, while the Intel 855GM chipset is an integrated graphics memory controller hub.

In 1,000 unit quantities, the Intel 855PM and 855GM chipsets are priced at $35 and $45, respectively.
