Micron SDRAM provides 6.4GBps bandwidth

Micron Technology Inc. has released its GDDR3 graphics double data rate SDRAM that targets high-speed point-to-point applications such as high-end PC graphics and gaming platforms. Fabricated on the company's 0.11?m process technology, the product provides an aggregate bandwidth of 6.4GBps per device, achieved with a 1.6Gbps per pin data rate.

Terry Lee, Executive Director of Advanced Technology and Strategic Marketing for Micron's Computing and Consumer Group, said, "GDDR3 operates at 50 percent higher data rates while consuming approximately half the power of graphics DDR2."
