TI transceiver suits industrial apps

The HVD3082E low-power RS-485 transceiver from Texas Instruments (TI) Inc. promises to cut power consumption to less than 0.3mA in active mode, and features 16kV HBM ESD protection levels that are suitable for applications in noisy environments such as energy meter networks, industrial automation, and telecom racks.

The HVD3082E half-duplex transceiver is powered by a 5V supply, and is fully compliant with the TIA/EIA-485A standard. With controlled output transition times, this device is capable of achieving signal rates up to 200Kbps over long twisted-pair cables with a True Fail-safe Receiver design for open, idle, and short bus conditions.

The SN75HVD3082E and SN65HVD3082E are offered in 8-pin SOIC packages, with operating temperature ranges of 0°C to 70°C and -40°C to 85°C, respectively.
