Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) and SeekerNet, a developer of wireless technologies, have collaborated to develop a Bluetooth-based wireless asset tracking and status monitoring system. Known as a Real Time Location System (RTLS), SeekerNet's product can track and monitor the status of either a fixed or mobile asset for applications ranging from supply chain management to security to asset monitoring and control.

"CSR's Bluetooth chipset was chosen due to its high level of integration and attention to power consumption requirements," Robert Twitchell, president, SeekerNet commented.

SeekerNet has developed patented technology that increases the performance of battery operated asset tracking and status monitoring systems. The combination of both companies' technologies is expected to dramatically improve the economics of a RTLS system to the point where many new applications may become feasible.
