Spire Corp. has renewed its technology licensing agreement for the manufacture and distribution of its solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing equipment with Marubeni Corp., a Japan-based global trading firm. The technology is provided by Spire Solar Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary that makes solar electric module manufacturing equipment and solar energy systems for distributed power generation.

Under the terms of the agreement, Marubeni has been granted rights to manufacture and distribute Spire's PV manufacturing equipment in Japan and to other Japan-based companies worldwide. The license also authorizes Marubeni to sub-license the manufacture of Spire's equipment to Japan's Nisshinbo Ind. Inc., a machine tool manufacturing company. This new agreement, which runs for two years, extends an earlier license entered into in 1997.
