Sipex Corp. has announced it has released its SP8055 photo detector IC (PDIC) that is designed for a flagship audio/video recorder that offers 8 high-speed data detection channels with two additional 140MHz summing channels.

The device's 12 gain settings provide versatile functionality for low- and high-speed DVD-R, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM applications. And each of the 12 gain settings is architected for a specific media and speed combination. The company's 10GHz BiCMOS process allows efficient gain switch implementation, resulting in advanced PDIC solutions currently not possible with standard bipolar processes.

The product features a >60dB PSRR, <10mV typical offset for gains 1 to 32, 10ns typical settling time, and a -73dBm noise level (C-H) and -68dBm noise level (RF channels). The product is offered in a 16-pin COB packaging that measures 5-by-4mm.
