California Micro Devices Corp. has released the CM1213 PicoGuard family of ultra-low capacitance electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection arrays that are suitable for protecting high-speed ports such as USB 2.0, Digital Visual Interface (DVI), High Definition Media Interface (HDMI), IEEE1394b/Firewire, and Serial ATA.

The products provide 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 integrated channels of ESD protection. Each ESD channel consists of a pair of diodes that steers the ESD current pulse to either the positive or negative supply rail. Each channel provides 8kV contact protection per the IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 standard. The CM1213 uses a diode clamp configuration optimized for minimal capacitance, while simultaneously providing high ESD protection with clamping voltage of <14V (Vbus + 9V).

The CM1213-01ST (SOT23-3) is priced at 29 cents, the CM1213-02ST (SOT23-5) at 41 cents, the CM1213-02SS (SOT143-4) at 42 cents, the CM1213-04ST (SOT23-6) at 48 cents, the CM1213-06SN (SOIC-8) at 49 cents, the CM1213-06MS (MSOP-8) at 49 cents, and the CM1213-08MS (MSOP-10) at 60 cents.
