Agere Systems Inc. has provided its PayloadPlus traffic management and network processor semiconductor solution to Laurel Networks. Agere's solution was integrated into Laurel's ST200 service edge router.

Laurel Networks' ST200 Service Edge Router is designed from the ground up, with the features required at the edge of a service provider Internet Protocol/Multi-Protocol Layer Switch (MPLS) backbone. The ST200 combines Internet routing, complete multi-service support, integrated service management and architecture flexibility to support current and evolving service provider requirements - all at wirespeed.

"Laurel and Agere share a similar vision of reducing operations costs for telecommunications service providers via a single, multiservice platform architecture," said John Rolfe, senior marketing manager with Agere Systems.
