Kycon has released the KUSBL-SMT and KUSBL series of low-profile USB connectors that provide space-saving benefits to designers of laptops and desktop systems, as well as peripherals such as keyboards, scanners, and USB hubs.

Available in single and stacked styles, the products' design lowers the profile height of the connector above the surface of the PCB, allowing the PCB to be mounted on a thinner chassis.

The single-port KUSBL-SMT enables space savings of up to 64 percent using surface-mount technology, while the stacked KUSBL provides a 31 percent space savings using a through hole design. Both devices are compliant with USB 2.0, and are available in standard gold flash or 30?inch gold contact plating. The KUSBL-SMT is also available in tape and reel.
