NTT Com adopts Nortel DWDM platform

NTT Communications Corp. has begun deployment of a new carrier-grade metro optical network based on the OPTera Metro 5200 DWDM multiservice platform from Nortel Networks.

Deployment of OPTera Metro 5200 is expected to enable NTT to provide a fibre channel leased line service. It is also positioning NTT Communications to provision its Gigaway service, an ultra high-speed, backbone service that supports a wide-range of interfaces up to 10Gbps. It is used by ISPs (Internet Service Providers), service providers and enterprises that need data communications services for remote back-up, disaster recovery, and other mission-critical applications.
