Coherent has developed the Paladin 355-4000, a high-power, diode-pumped solid-state UV laser designed for commercial imaging applications, as well as for integration into PCB laser direct imaging (LDI) systems and computer-to-plate (CTP) printing systems.

Claimed by the company as the first quasi-CW solid-state UV laser developed for OEM applications, the UV laser provides 4W at 355nm with a repetition rate of 80MHz. The product also features longer lifetime, lower cost of ownership, and is based on the aluminum-free diode technology that is found in the company's AVIA product line.

The Paladin 355-4000 can be fully computer-controlled via an RS-232 interface, allowing complete integration into OEM system software. The cleanroom manufacturing using the Permalign process, and the intelligent operating software, including Third Harmonic Generation control, are also included.
