Texas Instruments (TI) Inc. has introduced a digital-output temperature sensor IC from the company4s Burr-Brown product line, which features an SPI-compatible interface and provides programmable resolution and programmable setpoints for the alert pin.

Suitable for thermal measurements in a variety of communications, computer, consumer, industrial, and instrumentation applications, the TMP122 IC is capable of measuring temperatures within 0.5C accuracy over a temperature range of -25C to 85C, with operations running from -55C to 150C.

With a supply current of 50?A, a shutdown feature of 0.1?A, and a supply range from 2.7V to 5.5V, the device is offered in SOT23-6 packaging, and is available for 99 cents each in 1,000-piece quantities.
