Siliconix Inc., a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology, has released four power MOSFETs that reduce gate-chain capacitance by 50 percent, and offer lower on-resistance that allows for more power to be converted in less space.

Built on the TrenchFET technology, the WFET power MOSFETs use a thicker gate oxide at the bottom of the silicon trench to enable two-thirds reduction in Crss with minimal impact on on-resistance performance.

The devices are designed to provide efficient high-side operation in notebook CPU core dc-dc converters in single- and multi-phase configurations with a 20A (Si4390DY and Si7390DP) to 40A (Si4392DY and Si7392DP) output current.

The Si4390DY and Si4392DY are offered in a little foot SO-8 package, while the Si7390DP and Si7392DP are available in PowerPAK SO-8. Pricing for all products in 100,000-piece quantities starts at 55 cents.
