Picolight Inc. has released a family of transmit and receive optical sub-components called OEngines. The OEngine product family includes TO-can packaged vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) and detectors as well as LC sleeve assemblies.

Used in Picolight transceiver modules, the OEngine sub-components target 1Gbps to 10Gbps 850nm multi-mode enterprise applications and 100Mbps to 4Gbps 1,310nm single-mode access applications.

Stan Swirhun, CEO, said, "By commercializing OEngines, Picolight will provide our customers access to a proven, patented and comprehensive product portfolio for 850nm and 1,310nm optics front-ends - critical for the emerging 4Gbps and 10Gbps markets."
