Asahi Kasei Microsystems Co. Ltd (AKM) has introduced the AK5384, a 24-bit, 96kHz 4-channel ADC for high-end A/V amplifiers, electronic musical instruments, and car audio. With two stereo ADCs providing up to 96kHz sampling rate in a single package, the product reduces board mounting space requirements to accommodate more compact multi-channel designs.

Using the company's dual-bit techniques, the AK5384 achieves a dynamic range of 107dB and low distortion characteristics of 100dB. The product also provides a simplified multi-channel system with a TDM mode for 4-channel mixed transmissions and a mode with two cascade-connected devices to realize 8-channel TDM modes.

The converter is available in 28-pin VSOP package.
