Stepmind has announced the availability of its GSM/GPRS/EDGE transceiver that offers GSM quad-band operations (GSM850/900, DCS 1800, PCS 1900) and reduced design footprint.
The transceiver includes the synthesiser and all the VCOs while still providing high Tx phase noise performances of -162dBc/Hz at 20MHz to avoid the use of a costly Tx SAW filter. The transceiver can be matted to a majority of popular baseband processor product in the market by enabling both zero IF or near-zero IF operating modes in the same chip.
Available in a 6-by-6mm 36 MLF package style, the self-calibrating functions implemented in the design provides an additional way for handset designers to compete within the GSM market's stringent requirements. |
