Qualcomm Inc. has announced that is sampling the MSM6250 Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chipset and system software that supports GSM, GPRS, and the Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) mode of WCDMA (UMTS).

The MSM6250 chipset includes gpsOne, the first GPS solution for the WCDMA market, and the fully integrated multimedia features of the Launchpad suite of applications. This single-chip solution eliminates the need for external applications processors and associated memories.

Also integrated into this solution are Bluetooth wireless connectivity and USB On-The-Go (OTG) host controller to communicate directly with printers, digital cameras, keyboards, and other accessories. The product also supports quad-band GSM and dual-band WCDMA, which will help enable worldwide WCDMA and GSM roaming.

As with all members of the MSM6xxx family of chipset solutions, the MSM6250 solution features the company's radioOne Zero Intermediate Frequency (ZIF) architecture, which eliminates the need for IF components.
