Murata CATV tuner targets cable STB market

Murata Electronics has introduced the CAPTU3000 series of compact digital CATV tuners intended for digital cable set-top boxes (STBs).

Measuring 50-by-41-by-12mm, the product has dedicated ICs in the first and second mixers and an optimized circuit configuration.

The number of components used in the CAPTU3000 series has also been reduced to about 30 percent that of conventional tuners. The product incorporates a diplexer circuit and a splitter circuit, and meets the trend towards STB miniaturization with added function.

Samples are available for $25 with four to six weeks lead time.
