Advanced Validation Labs (AVL), a validation and testing services company, and VIA Technologies Inc., a developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platforms solutions, have launched their DDR400 memory module validation program.

With the release of the VIA PT800 and KT600 chipsets for the Intel Pentium 4 and the AMD Athlon XP processors, memory manufacturers and DRAM suppliers have started to ship DDR400 (PC3200) modules and devices specifically tested by AVL for compatibility with VIA chipsets. The VIA-certified system validation involves the testing of memory modules using VIA's PT800 and KT600 reference platforms and AVL's equipment and software. The validation test process includes thermal testing to further stress memory modules under a demanding set of compatibility tests.
