Silicon Laboratories Inc. has expanded its ISOmodem family of embedded modem solutions to include the Si2457, Si2434, Si2415, and Si2404, which integrate the company's 3G silicon direct access arrangement (DAA) technology.

The Si2457, Si2434, Si2415, and Si2404 support V.90, V.34, V.32bis, and V.22bis, respectively, over the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in both synchronous and asynchronous data formats. Other features include V.42 and MNP2-4 error correction, V.42bis and MNP5 data compression, standard serial or parallel interface, line-in-use and parallel phone detection, fast connect modes, and caller ID.

The ISOmodem devices reduces the board space and cost required to implement a complete embedded modem solution by eliminating the need for a separate DSP data pump, modem controller, codec, transformer, relays, opto-isolators and 2-4 wire hybrid. The ISOmodem solutions also integrate a 27MHz clock input and phase-locked loop eliminating the need for a crystal in set-top boxes and digital video applications.

Offered in a 24-pin TSSOP, the products include the Si3018/10 programmable global line interface that is packaged in a 16-pin SOIC. Pricing for the chipsets begins at $7.85 in quantities of 10,000. The Si2457URT-EVB, Si2434URT-EVB, Si2415URT-EVB, and Si2404URT-EVB evaluation boards are available for $150 each.
