LG.Philips Displays, the Hong Kong-based joint venture between the cathode ray tube (CRT) businesses of LG Electronics and Royal Philips Electronics, has developed a family of Cybertube+ SuperSlim television CRTs.

The designs have a depth of 35cm front to back, allowing manufacturers to produce mainstream and high-end TV sets that appear little deeper than plasma or LCD units, yet benefit from the far higher picture quality and price and performance ratio of CRTs.

Estimated prices are expected to be at least 50 percent less than competing technologies.
