Pentek Inc. recently announced the availability of what they claim to be the industry's first 4-channel DAC (D/A converter), digital upconverter and FPGA module. Featuring two Texas Instruments (TI) DAC5686 interpolating DAC with integrated upconverters plus an onboard Xilinx Virtex-II XC2V1000 or 3000 FPGA for custom programming, the Model 6228 is the company's latest VIM-2 (Velocity Interface Mezzanine) module.
The product is capable of operating as a 4-channel 500MHz 16-bit DAC, or as a 2-channel digital upconverter delivering bandwidths up to 160MHz through single-sideband or quadrature outputs.
Targeted at high-performance, reconfigurable transceiver systems requiring wide bandwidth and flexible modulation modes, Model 6228 is suitable for government radar, countermeasure and advanced multichannel communications systems, as well as next-generation wireless communications for cellphones and local-area network systems.
Pricing for the Model 6228 4-channel module starts at $4,995 with 12 to 14 weeks ARO. |
