National Instruments (NI) has announced that 14 of the top universities in China, including Peking University, Fudan University, and Zhejiang University, have adopted its virtual instrumentation for their engineering and science laboratories. With funding from the World Bank's Higher Education Development Project, the Ministry of Education in China purchased NI's LabVIEW graphical development software and NI data acquisition (DAQ) hardware for 230 student laboratory workstations.

According to NI, with its LabVIEW software and data acquisition hardware in university laboratories, engineering students can put basic engineering principles into practice, heightening their understanding of these principles to better prepare them for the workplace. Additionally, new students can create simple LabVIEW applications, and advanced users can build on these applications to create more sophisticated, custom measurement or control systems.
