CommScope Inc. has released a line of 50 ohm aluminum transmission line cables utilizing its smooth-wall cable design. Offering wireless customers the advantages of lighter weight and greater flexibility, the Extremeflex cables are made to exacting specifications that provide the conformability and flexibility necessary for demanding installations without sacrificing electrical, mechanical, or environmental requirements.

The product features a smooth-wall design that enhances proper "first-time" connectorization. The smooth-wall design has a triple-bonded architecture with a closed microcell foam dielectric that is nearly watertight once connectors are properly installed. Unlike traditional corrugated cable, the smooth-wall design virtually eliminates water migration, which is believed to be the single biggest reason for cable failure and interruption of site service.

The aluminum 50 ohm cables are available in 1/2-inch, 7/8-inch, and 11/4-inch flexible cable designed for difficult installations, and 1/2-inch super flexible cable for installations with tight or complex routing within the cabinet or shelter.
