Micron Technology Inc. has announced that it will support Intel Corp.'s Lindenhurst dual processor server chipset, with the delivery of functional 256Mb-based registered DIMM modules. The Intel Lindenhurst accesses memory at the DDR2-400 speed grade, with various module configurations.

"We are working with Intel to insure that we meet the needs of emerging server technology," said Terry Lee, executive director of Advanced Technology and Strategic Marketing for Micron's Computing and Consumer Group. "256Mb-based DDR2 registered DIMM modules provide unique advantages for server platforms - the 256Mb density enables lower-cost 512MB dual channel systems and the 512MB density enables chip-kill ECC in 1GB server systems. We are now delivering 256MB and 512MB DDR2 registered DIMM modules to major OEM customers for use with Intel's Lindenhurst platform."
