BivarOpto, the Optoelectronics Division of Bivar Inc., has announced the availability of an optional high-contrast material for their Light Pipe products family. The company claims that the second-generation materials provide 60 percent improved contrast ratio for light transmission of surface or through-hole mounted LEDs.

Featuring the use of a 94V-O compliant custom polycarbonate compound from GE, the light pipes are white-diffused in off-state appearance and take full color when in the on-state. The materials will be available by special order across the Bivar line of SLP, LP, VLPR, and PLP Series Light Pipes, and the lens caps of the company's line of Flexible Light Pipe (FLP Series) products.

Suitable for use in indoor displays, office equipment, building automation, motion sensors, and motion control applications, the BivarOpto High Contrast Ratio (HCR) Light Pipes have a lead time of less than six weeks.
